Itinerary Summary
The Program is Hiking Lushoto will take you to the western Usambara around Lushoto offer some wonderful walking. Routes follow well-worn footpaths that weave among villages, cornfields and banana plantations, and range from a few hours to several days.
Itinerary Details
Day 1. Walking to Magamba Tropical Rainforest
You will Start the walk at 8.30 am from Lushoto town to one of the very famous Royal village called Kwembago it is believed where the first king of Sambaa tribe had lived. Then the walk continues to Magamba tropical rainforest where when one is lucky can see black and white colobus monkeys, Black faced monkeys a number of birds, colorful butterfly and a specie of Jackson chameleons. On the way to Magamba viewpoint you will have time to pass to the German ancient trench cave. You will be enjoying the beautiful scenery view of Lushoto town Lunch will be at Magamba viewpoint at 1850m and after lunch take a little walk towards Lukozi dinner and overnight at Migombani guest house and Campsite.
Day 2. Walking Through the Local Farms
Normally the walk starts just after breakfast at 9.00 am walk through the local farms, where you can see coffee plantations and banana plantations and here is where you can start to experience the real local life and it’s original. Then you will be able to enjoy many high peaks with fantastic views a real countryside life you will also experience the local wooden sugarcane juice machine. You will then walk to Rangwi sister convent nun’s this is old Germany mission dinner and overnight at sister convent and campsite.
Day 3. Start Hiking Through Shagayu Rainforest
At 9.30am will start hiking through shagayu rainforest where you be able to see the famous flower Usambara violet which believed to be discovered on 1884 by SaintPaul. The visit the pottery women society will give you an overviews on how they make their pottery just after hear you will also pay a visit to traditional medicine man (Herbal man). Then at 6.30pm you will go for sun seat at Mtae observation point which is 1900m.Dinner and overnight at Mtae Lutheran mission.
Day 4. Walking to Irente view Point
Very early in the morning from 4.30am weak up and catch a bus from Mtae to Kwesimu village where you will get off from the bus start to walk to Irente farm approximately one hour walking.
Breakfast will be at Irente farm after the breakfast rest for one hour at the farm.Then keep walking to Irente viewpoint which is 1500m where the high way to Dar es salaam,sisal plantation and nice land scape can be seen downwards, from here you will start walking back to Lushoto town and this will be end of the tour.
